Theresa's July Results

I had a lot of fun with this kit. Thank you Rachel!

After all the crafting I've been doing in recent months, I have felt a little guilty for not working on my wedding album. Did I mention we were married in 2006? I saw the pretty papers and was inspired to do a layout with at least one of my wedding pictures.

The travel theme made me nostalgic for the time I spent in Bohol (a tropical Philippine paradise) with my parents. Turns out I had some photos printed during my trip that never made it to an album. Voila!

After I finished the layouts, I made some cards with items from the kit, but I used banned items and supplemented with other paper. I can post those if you want. Suffice to say, I had a lot of fun. :-) I can't wait to see what you ladies post!

Layout 1/4: Theresa getting ready for the wedding.
I think my favorite items in this whole kit were the little metal clip and black ribbon. I loved finding a way to put them into my wedding album.

Layout 2 and 3 of 4: paired piece with images from the Bohol Beach Club in the Philippines.

Layout 4/4: Anthony and Theresa in ROME! La Dolce Vita (or in other words: gelato per favore...)

  1. These are beautiful!

I love the wedding one. You look stunning! And I love your aunt in the background. So cute! :-) I, too, loved the little clippy and the black ribbon. I love how you took the paper, scanned it and blew it up, then printed it out in black and white. Such a smarty you are! I also love how you used the circles for journaling. This layout is so pretty. Love it!

I also adore the Philippines layout. I think out of all your layouts this might be my new favorite. Again, I love how you took the tag, scanned and blew it up. That is such a great idea. It looks really neat and graphic-y. I love strong graphics and this looks fabulous. I also love the orange oval tag with that blue sky in the photo, the green ribbon, the bright pink tags, the bright yellow flip flops, and the brown Kraft paper. It just all goes so wonderfully together. The colors feel so vibrant and tropical. I love how you mixed them together here. Speaking of colors, that water in the ocean photo is an amazing color! Wow! I would love to go there someday. I know how hard this time was for you and I am so glad that you hold some good memories of their time in the Philippines. I loved the journaling. It was very touching and I thought your use of the phrase "Wish you were here" was such a neat phrase to use because of it's double meaning - people say that while on vacation but I also know you wish he was still here on Earth. This is a stunning layout, Theresa. I am very impressed.

Of course I want to see your cards with the "banned"(lol) items. I like seeing what everyone does with the embellies, so I don't care if you used special tools or other materials. In fact, if we change the club come 2011, I'm hoping we get to host months and at least one of mine will be "use this embellishment with your supplies".

I can't wait to see the Italy layout. While I haven't been to the Philippines, I've been to Italy and am looking forward to seeing your photos of it. I've only ever seen your engagement photo. Can't wait!

  2. Beautiful layouts! I absolutely love how you scanned and copied the patterned paper and tag... very ingenious! I think my favorite details are the black ribbon with the clip on your wedding page, and the journaling on the pink tickets on the Philippines layout. And I also want to see your cards! :)

  3. So where is Italy? Or your cards? I have been impatiently waiting and...nothing. JK. I haven't finished my third layout, yet, either.

I did get your email about the club, but I think at the time I was pretty burnt out on thinking about the club because I had just finished all the kits. I got it and thought, "Ugh, I just can't even think about the next year right now." Now, with some space since then, I can focus on that.

Here's a portion of your email:

"There has been some talk about mixing it up next year. What do you think? The three main ideas I remember are:
    1. ORMV classic: kit of coordinating materials; limited tool kit.
    2. A small number of embellishments or materials with the requirement that they MUST be used in whatever project(s) are made; no limit on tools or materials that can be added.
    3. Create a project inspired by 1 common photograph.

What do you all think? I was wondering, since there are four of us now, that it would be fun if we each take 3 months of 2011 and in those 3 months we would do one of each type, so the challenges rotate. I'd volunteer for Jan-Feb-Mar or Apr-May-Jun."

I think it's pretty obvious by now from all my dropped hints and not-so-subtle sly comments that yes, I do want the club to change and that my favorite idea is that we each get to host months. Personally, I like the idea of rotating the months so it would go something like this:

    January: Theresa
    February: Marieke
    March: Claudia
    April: Rachel
    May: Theresa
    June: Marieke
    July: Claudia
    August: Rachel
    etc...

But if it's more convenient to break the year up into 4 chunks of 3 months, that works for me, too. It's just a preference thing. Not something I feel really strongly about either way.

I do like the idea of rotating those specific themes (listed above), but I also like the idea of having the freedom to create whatever challenge you want. You host it, you decide. But on this one, I am totally neutral. I have no preference either way.

So what does everyone else think?

  4. @ Theresa, you are something else! That bookplate is so perfect for your wedding album! It was one of my favorite embellishments, too, not that I've figured out how to incorporate it just yet. What a great idea to use the "hula girl" tag to create background paper. Pure genius.

@ Marieke, I also like the idea of rotating the months among the four of us, and changing up the themes to keep things interesting.
