Finished a project. Yay!

Umm... so I feel weird posting after Marieke's big charm unveiling. Kind of like singing karaoke at a bar after a top American Idol contestant (who hasn't had two margaritas) just had their turn. But my excitement is overriding my feelings of inferiority. While trying to pack for CU I came across my unfinished Halloween album. I only had one year left to do of the Halloween pictures I had, and I just wrapped it up! I don't think I've ever finished an album before, and I am pretty happy with it. Here are 4 more layouts, and three of them have at least one element from Marieke's original October kit. 2003 was the year Shaughn and I got married (we were on our honeymoon over Halloween), 2004 and 2005 were just the two of us being silly, and 2010 was a craziest year yet (as evidenced by a hectic and crowded layout... I need to work on my editing).

  1. As usual, I love your work. Thanks for posting these! I love seeing the rest of the album. Also, I love how you celebrate Halloween. I felt very into Halloween just carving a pumpkin and having a single trick-or-treater come by. That's sad. It's been years since we really got into the spirit of things. But, I imagine that will change soon. :-)

Where to start? Where to start? I'll start with my favorite - the last one. I lOVE how you journaled here. I love the little journaling strips - so cute. And I love the way you displayed the ephemera. I ♥ layering. Also, I just have to add how cute your kiddies look in there costumes and Halloween gear. Gosh, times flies. They're getting so big! Every time I see a picture of Hanna, I am shocked at how much bigger she is than the last time I saw a pic. It just goes by so fast.

And going back up the list from there (in reverse order), I really love how you put the ribbon through the buttons on the bottom of the photo in the witch layout. How on earth did you manage to get the ribbon through such tiny holes? Well, no matter, it looks adorable. Also, I love how the embellishments you chose for each layout match the subject of the photos in your album. I noticed this with your first post for this album a few months ago and I still think it's neat how you managed to do that. So, the flying witch looks perfect here!

Okay, so the more I look at 2004, the more I see that I like. I love the way you journaled on the border strips. Love the adorable paper here. And I LOVE how creative you got with the year - by using the skeleton eyeballs for the zeroes in 2004. Adorable!

So one word for 2003 - Awwww! I love how you included some wedding snaps in this Halloween album since your wedding date was so close to Halloween. Your cake was beautiful! And I adore those little jack-o-lantern brass candle holders. I love October, the light is so soft, mellow, and romantic. It always seemed like a great month to get married in. We just went to Alex's wedding this past October and it was such a beautiful day. I bet your wedding was gorgeous. So was the haunted house really haunted? Did you see any ghosts?

You did an amazing job. I am in awe. I love this album. What a great keepsake! :-)

  2. Hooray! You are awesome. I love the idea of having all of your Halloween pictures together in one album, rather than fishing through several years' worth of albums to find photos from one annual event. What a great compilation!

I love the handwritten journaling (not hard to do, since I have always adored your handwriting since we were kids). The background paper for the 2003 layout is gorgeous (as is the layout itself). I love the close-up photos of the decorations and cake. I'm positive this is the first time I've seen the 2004 and 2005 pictures, so I got a kick out of those. You are so good at matting photos (and what a great use of accents!).

And please, don't edit yourself! I love the layout for last year. I wouldn't have left out a thing. I love how you incorporated the memorabilia, I always save things like that and never know what to do with it. This is perfect. I like that you put the photos in a grid, but that each photo isn't the same size. I think it really adds interest.

  3. I agree with Marieke and Rachel - what a great compilation. The pictures are so wonderful... all of the creative work to put the album together shows them off well. I love the zombie viking costume! :-)

I actually like the last layout the best, too. For years I've been saving things, bits of paper here and there, in the hopes of building pages like you did. They usually just get lost or thrown away because I wait too long. You have inspired me to try harder to make it happen!
