Rachel's August Results

I decided to take advantage of this month's theme and do a "Baby's First Year" spread to use as the title page for Hanna's first scrapbook. Here is how it came out:

The baby themed kit didn't stop me from thinking outside the box a little. The "Sweet Pea" title and kraft paper inspired me to finally do a layout on our garden:

I used Picasa, a free photo editing software, to make a 12 x 12 photo collage.

I made the sweet peas by printing out an image I
found online and cutting it out and tracing it on to the green paper.

I also used some of my scraps to make a card:

  1. Rachel, these are great layouts and card! I'd have to say my favorite is the Sweet Pea layout. I love the title on the pea pods, and how you put the pictures all on one side... I've never thought about doing that, but it's a great way of putting in a lot of pictures in a layout, and still have room to get "crafty" on the other side. (By the way, beautiful photos!) And the flower border is very cute, and it was clever of you to double up the yellow ribbon for a border. The title page is adorable (how could it not be with the subject!). I like how you used different elements to create horizontal borders. And I *love* that you used the pom-poms on the title page and the card. Although I didn't use them in my project this month, I am determined to use that pom-pom ribbon soon... it just looks like fun!
(P.S. I'm looking forward to seeing you and Hanna soon!)

  2. Rach, I love these. Again, I LOVED seeing them in person. I have to agree with Claudia in that the sweet pea layout is my favorite, though the first year layout is also adorable. I think it is awesome that you made those peas by hand. They look GREAT! I, too, love how you used the flowers to create a border and how you doubled up on the ribbon between the two pieces of paper on the right. And I love how you used the heart sticker on the photo collage. But my favorite part was how you used the little circle stickers and brads on the white polka dots. I thought that was so creative and the attention to detail was just awesome.

On the First Year layout, I though the photo organization was awesome - what a great way to fit a lot of photos on one page while leaving room for embellishments. I am always struggling to accomplish just that. I love how you put the safety pins in as an embellishment on the pom pom ribbon. So cute!

Such a cute card! I LOVE that crape paper embellishment. I can't wait to use it on something.
