Theresa's February results...

This month was strange for me. I got stuck in two different patterns. At the beginning of the project I could not get away from making cards out of scalloped circles. At that point I put all of the materials away for a couple of weeks and then tried to finish up this past weekend. When I started again, I made the layout I wanted to make from the beginning. One catch though: I could not get away from green everything. Since I love green, I figure that's OK. :-)

Layout (1/1)

This is a picture that was taken of Anth and I right after he proposed.... in Italy! It was such a wonderful day. I am not sure if you can see the gondola shape under the vellum. The tone on tone didn't work out as well as I wanted it to. I think it looks better in real life. I also notice that my layouts are relatively simple.

Card Set (1,2,3,4 / 12)

Who can resist a valentine?

(This one is blank inside.)

This one was custom for a friend of mine.

Card Set (5,6,7 / 12)
Here is the inside of each card:

Card, Special (8 / 12)

I made this valentine just for Anth. :-)

Card Set (9, 10 / 12)

A couple of simple "Happy Birthday" cards.

(blank)

Here is the inside:

Card Set (11, 12 / 12)

And to say thanks. (Both are blank inside.)
(I made the pink envelope from some of the kit paper.)

  1. First, let me say that I am so impressed with the amount of items you created. Wow! You are so creative!

I love your layout! I love the two greens together. I love two tone and monochromatic layouts. They look so clean and elegant - you just can't go wrong with them. I read your comment about your layouts being simple and all I could think is that A) I don’t think they’re simple and B) even if that were true, there is a beauty in simplicity. I think layouts without a lot of embellishments really allow the viewer to focus on the photos and it’s always a toss up in my mind as to which is better – more complex or simple and elegant. I think the answer is both are equally wonderful. I think it's a matter of preference and even that can swing depending on my mood. In the case of this layout it makes sense to leave it minimally embellished because the story is really the focus. I love the torn and distressed mat. It was the first thing I noticed. Also, I love the gondola behind the vellum – what a great idea! It adds without overwhelming the photo or story.

Your Valentine’s Day cards are too cute. It’s pretty funny that when I put together this kit I had in mind making a ton of Valentines Day cards with the supplies and then ended up not really following through on that. I am SOOOO glad to see you ran with it. I am so impressed with these. I love all the layering and the stitching you did. I could never have come up with Valentine’s as cute as these. They’re adorable!

  2. Also, I love how you came up with the breast cancer awareness cards. These are so cool. What a great idea!!! It never would have occurred to me and I love them. I want to always try to do at least one card that is unrelated to the theme and these certainly fit the bill. All I could come up with was a “Thinking of You” card. These are not only unrelated to the theme (Valentine’s Day) but they fit the materials perfectly. In no other month could these have been made. I am so impressed with your thinking here. Think Pink!

I love your green Valentine’s Day card for Anthony. I have to say I REALLY admire your use of fonts and text. You are so amazing at this. I love the stitched heart over the text. I debated whether to do my stitching twice around or just once and after viewing your cards I think I prefer it the way you have done it. (BTW, Spencer loved this card.)

Again, I love your use of text for the birthday and thank you notes. Simple, elegant, awesome. Great choice! I really like the “x” stitch you did. Very cute! I love the striped birthday card and the balloons inside with the string. So adorable!!!! So creative! I love how you use the materials in creative ways, like turning the circles into balloons. Also, the thank you note where the vellum is in slits is very cool. And I love how used some of the paper to make an envelope. Very cool!

I am very impressed with you use of different techniques and ideas – like sliding the vellum into slits, your text arrangements and your layering (like in the case of the custom valentine). I love the whole group. Awesome job!!!! You have inspired me to do more next month.

  4. Also, I love how you dangled the pink anchor in the layout. Very cute and unique. I chuckled when I saw this and was reminded of the email exchange regarding what the heck anchors are.

Thank you again for participating in this club and making the time to get crafty when I know your schedule is very full. It has been a lot of fun sharing this passion for crafting. :-)

  5. Theresa, I love the way you use vellum. You inspire me, as you will see once I finally get my results up. Marieke has taken the words out of my mouth, and I don't want to just repeat everything she has already said but I just want to tell you what made an impression on me. I love the torn photo mat. I've been wanting to try that technique but am still too chicken. The balloons are adorable. I love them! I want to scraplift that for Hanna's next birthday layout! You and Marieke make the most adorable cards. I just love them! Your creativity is so much fun to witness. I have been so excited to see what you were going to come up with but didn't let myself until I was ready to post my projects. It's hard to decide, but I have to say, the Full Metal Jacket-inspired card is my favorite. Classic!

  6. And you are going to have to teach me how to use fonts like you do. I love it.
