Rachel's January Results

Okay, Marieke, color me humbled. I only managed to churn out one layout and one card, though now that I've seen Marieke's cards I'm feeling pretty inspired to make some more.

Here is my layout ("Celebrate Three Years of Life"):

And a closer view of some of the details:

This is the first time I've ever used photo titles. Or the negative of a cut-out title. I also had a lot of fun with my circle punch, as you may notice. The hat above the title is cut out from a double of one of the photos. I also decided to cut the blue ribbon in half to use as a border.

Here is my card:

As you can see, it's pretty simple. I know you're loving the hand doodled swirls on the pink present (and I hope you realized they're presents. My mom didn't).

That's it.

Okay, Theresa, we can't wait to see what you made! :)

  2. Doh! I forgot to mention - I love the three theme! How clever! Not to mention how great I think the circle punches are at the top and bottom - I love that they're striped circles. I never would have thought to use the striped paper for them and I would have missed out because I love the way they look. Also, I must admit, I love using white for backgrounds - it's something I've been meaning to try. I see it a lot on TPIAB and just haven't gotten around to it. Just so cute! I also love that you used the striped paper for the ribbon on the present. It took me a long time to think of an idea for how to use the striped paper and I just love how ingenious you were with it. So many things to love!

  3. And the hat with the button topper! Too cute. Every time I look, there is something more to love. I just love how you think of such unique ways to use things, like the hat and the negative of the titles.

Also, I have to say it's pretty awesome that the words fit your layout. I didn't end up using any of them - and I made the kit! I think that it's so neat how it worked out.

You're attention to detail amazes me - that you even put the candles in the same color order as on the embellishment - well, I'm impressed.

(And by the way there is a certain someone who's birthday is in March who would love to get a card just like that - hint, hint.)

  4. This is the last comment I swear - I just had to add that I love your placement of the 3 candles, how they are fanned out. It brings a lot of movement to the page.

  5. I have to agree with Marieke. And can I say again... it is so much fun to see what we all came up with after having used the same materials.

I say, if you're inspired to make more cards then go for it! Scrap-lifting is encouraged, remember?! :-)
I think you're idea of for the gift card is pretty nifty.

I love your layout. Partially because I adore all of the pictures you have from your birthday party (s?). I love pictures of us as kids. I don't really have many at all though (I can probably count them all on one or two hands). I think that's why this seems even more special to me. The other thing, which is my own option too (I swear I'm not plagiarizing Marieke!)... your creativity makes me smile. I never would have thought of cutting out one picture to make embellishments. That's cool!

I think this club has definitely kicked off a great year. I'm looking forward to every month now! (Especially because Marieke mentioned she's going to work on some of the remaining months.)
I'm in for one or two if you want.....
