Marieke's January Results

So, I tried to use up every last thing in the kit. Once I got started, there was no stopping me. I ended up with 1 layout and 8 cards.

Details of the cards:

Here is what I printed and traced:

I printed the "1st" out in Verdana, font size 120. Then I did a search for flower line drawings and printed out the image, then traced and cut.

The other fonts I used on the cards were Curlz MT, Matisse ITC, and Comic Sans MS.

Here are my leftovers:

  1. I love these! The cards you got out of all that material are fantastic.

  2. Thanks. Once I got started, I couldn't stop. I just wanted to keep going. I had a lot of fun.

Spencer asked last night, "Are you allowed to look for line drawings on the internet?" He is even more stringent than I am! (I thought I was bad.) It made me doubt myself and I had to go read the rules again, but it says in the rules, "images from any source". Now I feel like I cheated or something. Also, I'm not sure if orange was technically one of the colors so I may have broken one of the rules by outlining the flower with orange. If you want to discount that flower (actually, that pig card altogether) feel free. With everything else, I rigidly adhered to the rules. I swear.

So where are yours? Hmmm? I wanna see, I wanna see. I'm like a little kid. I can't wait. I am very impatiently waiting...:-)

So after working with a kit, are there any rules you want to change?

  3. Your creativity is very humbling. I am just floored. I love the brightness of the layout, the combination of the way you placed the patterned paper and the photos really moves your eyes across the page. Very fluid. I love how you chose to mat each photo in a different color and how they blend so seamlessly into the layout. I love the ribbon border on the tag and the button in place of a grommet. And the title! It just pulls everything in. You are a master of color. I just don't know how you do it.

The cards are adorable. It makes me want to go make some more right now (hey, I've still got until the 12th, right?). In a (hyphenated) word: scraplift-worthy.

  4. So, when I peeked this morning I was on my way to work and didn't have a lot of time to linger. Your January collection is amazing! I think the layout is my favorite - but you know what a photo-fiend I am. I love how creative the hand-made/assembled borders are. I didn't even think of a tag. It's very cool!

Your cards are fantastic. I can't believe (ok, I can now) - how many you got out of the materials we had. It really seems like each cards was designed so carefully. I think this is where it becomes clear just how different all of our thought patterns and design sensibilities are. The three of us took the same materials and came up with pretty different things. That's been my favorite part of this whole endeavor.

I like the "life with you.." card a lot. After my chromosome card I couldn't think of anything but Happy Birthday cards.

I think I may try using line drawing stencils next month. I didn't think about that at all for January.

You have given both Rachel and I a wonderful gift. Thank you for creating this forum, and the club. You don't know how good it feels to be creative again. I think this is a much needed breathe of fresh air, after all of the over-worked-flood-of-stress I've been wading through the last couple of years. Danke! Gracias! Merci! Grazie! Arigato! Koszonom! Salamat! Hvala! THANK YOU!

  5. By the way - I think it was me who didn't read the rules thoroughly. I used a scalloped circle too, which wasn't in there (but I posted it because I made the card anyway). The point is to have fun! You're beating yourself up too much. The pig card is my favorite one!

  6. Yes, I agree, the point is to have fun! I do tend to stress out about things too much. :-)
